Bio:

Full Name: Josephine Clare Chisholm

Date of Birth and/or Age: 26

Sexual Preference: Heterosexual

Ethnic Background: English, Irish

Occupation: Doctor

Family:
Harper Ellison(Father) - alive

Caroline Ellison(Mother) - alive

Sisters(2) - alive

Husband - Henry Chisholm - deceased

Son - Benjamin Donald Chisholm

Current Residence: Will be living at the boarding house when she arrives in New Shelby

Appearance: Slender of frame, Josie stands 5'5" tall. She has blue-gray eyes and blonde hair which she normally keeps pulled back from her face and pinned securely in a bun at the nape of her neck.

Personality: Strong willed, determined, passionate, caring, compassionate. Josephine is not a woman who does anything halfway. If she starts something she will see it through to the end no matter how long it may take her to reach her goal. She is also dedicated to her family, her young son Benjamin is the most important person in her life aside from her husband. She is the type of person who tries to see the good in a person despite what others might be saying about them. This tends to put her on the bit too trusting side of the spectrum, and could very well place herself and family in jeopardy if she acquainted herself with the wrong person/people.

She has a great dislike of thunderstorms. The thunder and lightning bad storms bring have never had a positive effect on her. She can't stand being alone when one hits. For some inexplicable reason the just plain terrify her. She also holds the truth about the true parentage of her son. A secret she had kept hidden from her family. A secret that she prays she will be able to take with her to her grave.

Special Skills/Weapons Used: Outside of her doctoring skills Josie is one heck of a cook. She makes one damn good apple pie(a favorite with he young son). She's also more then an adequate at sewing, having a young son has given her quite the many opportunities to become quite efficient with a needle and thread.

Weaknesses: Josephine has never handled a gun in her entire life, much less learned how to fire one. Poker, she's really bad at the game. She knows the basic of the card game having been taught how to play it a couple years back, but that was as far as it went. If she'd ever find herself sitting in one a game, she'd must likely lose each hand she anted into. She's not completely inept at riding, but neither is Josephine anywhere near an expert horsewomen. She can handle a horse adequately well if it is gentle and well broken.

History: Born in New York City, Josephine was the second child born to a physicain father and a school teacher mother. When she was five her father packed up the family for a westward move. He had accepted an offer from an old colleague to join his practice in partnership in the town of San Bernardino, California. His patient load was becoming muc more then the man alone could manage.

Her father was one who strongly believed in education and equality for his daughters. A view that was shared by his wife. That belief led two of his daughters down paths not generally taken or found acceptable during that time. While her older sister was determined to become a writer and travel extensively, Josephine chose the path that her father had taken. Many a day growing up were spent reading the books in her father's medical library.

When she was 21, Josephine left home for the first time in her life to attend Syracuse Medical College in New York. It was one of the very few colleges that accepted women. After 13 weeks of hard work and hard study, Josie graduated and returned home to put the knowledge she had gained to work by working with her father.

Her 24th year was a turning point in the young woman's life. While enjoying a brief respute from the clinic she worked at Josephine had a chance encounter with an injured man. An outlaw.

She had found him near unconsciousness suffering from a gunshot wound to the knee. Going agianst her better judgement, Josie managed to get the injured man to a nearby abandoned cabin instead of taking the man to the clinic in town. Should she have done that it could very well have alerted the local law to the man's presence. Getting him patched up and on the mend was Josie first and foremost priority.

The days Josie spent with the outlaw known as Donnie Dooger, seeing him through a full recovery, found her beginning to care for him more and more. Her feelings went beyond the typical doctor/patient relationship. She let herself get too close, the result of which ended in her becoming with child. A fact the man never knew as he left without word before Josephine found out and could inform him of her situation.

It was shortly after learning what she carried inside her, Josephine met Henry Chisholm. He was a new resident to San Bernardino, and a welcomed addition to the ever growing staff of her father's expending practice. Her father's partner had retired the previous year and turned the buisness completely over to him. The lapse of a year had Henry and Josephine marrying, Henry adopting her son, Benjamin Donald Ellison, taking the boy as his own and giving the child his name.

Two years later Henry accepted an offer to set up a doctoring practice in the town of New Shelby. With a few loose ends to tie up it was decided that Josie and Benjamin would travel to the town of New Shelby and get settled in there. The plan was that Henry would join his family there a couple days later once he was free of the obligations he had in San Bernardino.
